Bio

James Dangerfield is an actor, singer and musician who has appeared on stage and film, performing Shakespeare, musical theatre, operetta and pantomime.

James’s one man musical When You Fall Down- The Buster Keaton Story premiered in the USA in 2017. It has subsequently been performed at theatres around the UK, including sell-out London shows and in Paris, France. In July 2018 it made its West End debut at The Other Palace, before appearing at The Pleasance Edinburgh for the whole of August. The show was a huge success, winning a prestigious ThreeWeeks Editors’ Choice award, an invitation to appear on Pick of The Fringe and was one of only 10 nominees for Musical Theatre Review’s “Best Musical at the Fringe”. Theatre includes: Henry in Henry V, Kate and Lucentio in The Taming of The Shrew, Orlando and Audrey in As You Like It, Michael Gove in Brexit The Musical, the violin-playing Old Green Grasshopper in James and The Giant Peach World Tour, Rufus in Bumblescratch (The Adelphi), 2 UK tours as Frederick in The Pirates of Penzance, Greg in When Midnight Strikes, Desmond in Cheri, Tom Ferrier in Free as Air, Jerry Lukowski in The Full Monty, Man in Ed Fringe; The Musical Revue, Fred in Captain Hacker’s Treasure, Brian McKinnery in Grit, Wishee Washee in Aladdin, Buttons in Cinderella, Muddles in Snow White and 7 seasons as Dandini in Cinderella.  James also created the on stage role of Buster Keaton in Sweet F.A, the story of silent movies.

Film & TV includes: Jeremiah Warburton in Mike Leigh’s Peterloo, Phillip in Prawn, Nick Finlay in Mayday alongside David Calder, Mr Swann in the KFC 2016 Christmas ad “Brexit Nativity” and D.O.N.T. music video.

Recordings include: Bumblescratch original cast recording and Free as Air, official London revival cast recording.

Concerts include: West End Live 2016.

Originally from the North West of England, James studied at Guildford School of Acting and has a degree in English Literature from Durham University. He plays the violin and piano and also interested in drawing, storyboard art and graphic design.

  1. My 7 year old daughter thought you were the best part of the Cinderella panto in Worthing. She absolutely adored you. Thanks for a magical evening. 🙂 It was a shame that we were sat in the middle so, she didn’t get to hi 5 you but, she can’t stop talking about what a great time she had.

  2. James, sorry I missed your show in Edinburgh, I am a Keaton Devotee and consider the treated twentieth century artist ever, flawed as we all are but a genius who I still enjoy on DVD.
